Teaching at MSW
I currently take the following course(s), run by the Multi-Skills Workshop:
(For full details, follow the links to the Multi-Skills Workshop website)

Woodwork for Beginners
Tuesday evenings, 19:00-21:00

Woodwork for Intermediates
Thursday evenings, 19:00-21:00

These courses are two hours per week for a total of ten to twelve weeks, and are run through the Multi-Skills Workshop.
They only run if there is sufficient interest, and there is also limited space, so please get in touch, with David at MSW, as soon as possible.

One-to-One Tuition

What do you want to learn? Courses tailored to you:

Anyone interested in hands-on experience, of anything I have covered on YouTube, or similar, should email me. So if you fancy a whole week, or just a half day, please get in touch (mail@womadeod.co.uk)

As a guide to fees, Hourly rate is £35/hr (minimum of £45), half day (3½hrs) £110, full day (7hrs) £200, at my own workshop, or student's home/workshop. Where greater space or machine capacity is required, then additional charges will be advised on request, since it would require the hire of a venue.
Where possible I will try to accommodate OAPs, students in full time education, and other low income groups at a substantial discount.
Returning students will enjoy loyalty discounts, so if you've been taught by me before, do remind me!

Course Venues

Courses will usually be held at either the Multi Skills Workshop, Polegate (just outside Eastbourne) or my own workshop (in Eastbourne), depending on availability and numbers.

Eastbourne is one of the top South Coast tourist towns in England, with plenty of things to see and do. London Gatwick airport is only about an hour away by either train or car. Accomodation is available from B&Bs through to 4 and 5 star hotels, for anyone looking to stay overnight.

Help / Advice

Please feel free to e-mail me for help or advice. Whilst I can't promise to assist in all cases, I will do my best.

  1. Hi Mitch, Joan and I are back in Buffalo. It was an enjoyable trip and Eastbourne was a wonderful place to hang out, relax, and, for me, to learn about hand tool woodworking for a few days. I really appreciated your willingness to share lots of the subtle things you do to get the irons and chisels sharp and especially all of the small things you do to get a plane tuned up and working at its best. For those that may be wondering: Mitch is an excellent teacher and while his videos are good, he is IMO much better in person. He has an easy going, relaxed style and provides a nice understanding of the goal of each step and then clear instruction on the methods needed to achieve the best results. I got clear and useful feedback that helped me to make immediate improvements. I am waiting for the jet lag to clear, but have my chisels and irons ready to be properly sharpened, my planes to get better tuned, and then a list of projects (starting with the shooting boards we used) to make. I am looking forward to better results and more enjoyment in my wood working! Best, Kevin

    1. Thanks Kevin, it was a real pleasure to meet you and chat about woodworking and many other things besides.
You were the first to take my Planes, Chisels, & Scrapers course, and your feedback during it was most helpful.
You achieved great results, which I hope you can replicate at home - I'm only a phone call or email away for reminders.
Thanks for your kind words Kevin. Take care and keep in touch. Best regards to you both, Mitch
